THE LEGENDARY HOLLYWOOD STAR, TOM MIX
Founded in 1905, Granite Park is home to the 3rd oldest known rock formations in the United States. This dramatic site captured the imagination of legendary Hollywood star, Tom Mix. The 1920’s Hollywood actor filmed many of his movies on this site using the varied terrain of towering granite boulders, hidden canyons and mature cottonwoods to create the period Westerns he was known for.

ARIZONA'S GARDEN OF THE GODS
The “Tom Mix” site attracted many visitors as the location became Arizona’a Garden of the Gods, a recreation park from 1926 to 1962. There, guests enjoyed Arizona’s first heated swimming pool, a dance pavilion featuring Big Bands, a restaurant and a children’s park. The park was host to beauty pageants, sporting events and various other entertainments.
